SoapStone Sculpture by Brian Bonhert
Well this post is a little late, so please accept my sincere apologies! It was quite a hectic year in 2013 for me and many life changes have taken place, all for the good!
The Healing Palette in sponsorship with Canvas & Quill Studios and The St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital was again a wonderful and well attended exhibit in the hospital's beautiful atrium. We had guest speakers from Grit Uplifted, St. Thomas Elgin Health Unit - Youth Group, who gave some outstanding and very moving stories! Thank you all for sharing your journey with us! Also thank you to our MPP Jeff Yurek for your support and kind words - yes, we will be coming to see you in 2014 for some support with this much worthy cause for Mental Health Awareness.
We believe that this was the best exhibit attendance ever in The Healing Palette's 9 year history! We were especially excited for this show to take place, celebrating the new opening of the Short Term Mental Health Care Wing at STEGH. A special thanks goes out to Deb Gibson, Manager - Mental Health Care Program STEGH, Lisa Minielly - Volunteer Services Specialist STEGH, and of course to our countless supporters and artists who make this happen every year....from Anne Sloboda and I, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!!! A very special welcome to Paul Jenkins, newly appointed Executive Director for the STEGH Foundation, we look forward to working with you Paul!
Stay tuned for more updates here on the recent visit from Clara Hughes Bell Let's Talk visit to St. Thomas and STEGH gala! It was an awesome event for everyone - so happy that she has taken on this role, to be our voice for mental health awareness! Go Clara Go!!!
